The institution


The medium and long-term development project aims to increase capacity to 11.5 million passengers/year instead of 5.3 million (after Quick wins), with an investment of 1 788 Million Dh. It consists of : 

  • Terminal building :

The extension works on the side of terminals T1 and T2 will make it possible to enlarge the modules to absorb future passenger traffic increases concerning departure:

    • In the basement : Baggage sorting system and support rooms ;
    • At the ground floor level : check-in, PIF and PAF departure, boarding lounges ;
    • At the RDC+1 : landing ;
    • At the RDC+2 : the international boarding lounges. 

The passenger terminal development project brings the terminals to a total area of approximately 130 000 m² distributed as follows :

  • Airside infrastructure  
    • The duplication of runway access aims to allow smoother alignment procedures and provide additional space for aircraft storage before takeoff 
    • Aircraft parking extension to accommodate 40 remote code C stations.

 By 2040, parking areas will have expanded and reorganized around the terminal. 

  • Architectural design:

An architecture competition was launched in 2023, and the firm of Abdou Lahlou was selected. The construction work is scheduled to start in the last quarter of 2024.
