1. EXISTING AIR TERMINAL DEVELOPMENT: Terminal 1

1. PROJECT OBJECTIVES

Mohammed V Airport existing air terminal develoment project lies within the upgrading of Air traffic control and security services structures.

Various analysis allowed the elaboration of a program focusing on the following points :

  • Passengers flow management  through Arrivals and Departures separation;
  • Loading area developement;
  • Public hall expension;
  • Booking area developement and expension;
  • Shopping malls creation and organization ;
  • Responding to the need for offices, comfort and security equipment.

2. PROJECT CONSISTENCY

The project consists of:

RUNWAY LEVEL  :  This level’s  developement consists of :

  • Arriving passengers processing area creation;
  • Pre-ramp creation allowing passengers to head for nose-in or in-apron aircraft;
  • Service road installation beyond the hall, existing on the apron side;
  • Office spaces possible developement and creation;
  • Luggage sorting area developement and enlargement.

LOADING LEVEL (+4,70) : This level’s  developement consists of :

  • Pre-ramps construction with airlock and runway level staircases access;
  • Filling up emptiness between current departure lounges;
  • Taking down existing departure lounges partition walls in order to creat a single departure lounge with access  gates to aircraft;
  • Transit area creation;
  • New shopping malls developement and creation;
  • Booking area developement  with a retreat at under customs hall;
  • Public hall expension with an extension on the city side.

LEVELS + 8,60 and + 9,10 : This level’s  developement consists of :

  • First class lounge creation, cafeterias and spaces for airline companies;
  • Tax-free shopping malls creation;
  • Office spaces creation

  • 900 linear meters of mechanical luggage loaders

2. APRONS RESHAPING

1. PROJECT OBJECTIVES

Considering the developements forseen within the terminal extension’s framework, the aprons reshaping is essential.
Indeed, the loading jetty projection on the existing apron will involve the shifting of aircraft service road axis of approximately 45 m on the west side, whereas the creation of an arrivals hall and a service road  on a 23 m width across from the existing air terminal departure lounges imposes a nose-in parking retreat of approximately 23 m towards the west side.

2. PROJECT CONSISTENCY

Aprons remodeling project consists of the following :

  • New aircraft nose-in and parking area as well as their access roads reshaping and reinforcement;
  • Moving the road ways towards the west side bypassing the building constraints and lighting;
  • Moving aprons lighting poles;
  • Adding to the service buildings an access on west side;
  • Installing vehicules parking area for west side runway.
3 . NEW FREIGHT STATION CONSTRUCTION

1. PROJECT OBJECTIVES

Air cargo activity at Mohammed V airport is carried out, in its near totality, by the National company Royal Air Maroc in a 11.200m ² hangar built in the late Sixties and remodeled during the Eighties.

In its freight development program, Royal Air Maroc has set up an objective to annually increase the air cargo activity by 5%. This rate was surpassed in 2006 to reach 9%.

This objective has been laid down on the basis of studies, carried out by a specialized organism, which ended in the existence of a favorable market offering growth potentialities wich remain nevertheless conditioned by two important actions:

  • Processing conditions improvement by setting up installations meeting safety and quality standards,
  • Cargo fleet strengthning to offer greater capacity and better flexibility limiting the dependence on flight's freight.

2. PROJECT CONSISTENCY

The project consists of :

Construction of a 30.000 m ² and 150.000 t/year freight station of which :

  • 16.000 m ² covered;
  • 14.000m ² uncovered.
