ONDA joined World pact on May 26, 2006.
World pact is a voluntary initiative of responsible companies
It is not an instrument of regulations. It rests rather on:
- Responsibility towards the public.
- Transparency and companies’ long-term interest.
- Civilian society launching concrete and joint actions by applying its principles.
It is a network, mainly composes of World Pact Office and six United Nations organisms :
- United Nations Human Rights High Commission (UNHRHC).
- United Nations Environmental Program (UNEP).
- International Labor Organization (ILO).
- United Nations Development Program (UNDP).
- United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO).
- United Nations Office against drugs and crime.
The 10 Principles
Are inspired by :
- Universal Human Rights Declaration.
- ILO Declaration relating to the principles and fundamental labor rights.
- Rio Declaration on environment and development.
- United Nations Convention against corruption.
Human Rights
Principle 1 : Companies are invited to promote and respect, in their sphere of influence, international laws concerning human rights protection;
Principle 2 : To see that their own companies are not being accessory to any human rights laws violations.
Labor
Principle 3 : Companies are invited to support freedom of association and recognize Collective Negotiation right;
Principle 4 : Elimination of all forms of hard or forced labor;
Principle 5 : Actual abolition of child labor;
Principle 6 : Elimination of employment and carrier discrimination.
Environment
Principle 7 : Companies are invited to use precaution regarding environmental problems;
Principle 8 : Undertake initiatives to promote greater responsibility as regards environment;
Principle 9 : Encourage development and distribution of environment-friendly technologies.
Fighthing corruption
Principle 10 : Companies are invited to act against corruption in all its forms, including bribe and money extortion.
